Celcol® Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC)

Product Overview

Celcol® – Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) for Detergent Applications

Celcol® is a premium grade Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) widely used in detergent formulations as an effective anti-redeposition agent and soil suspending polymer. It is designed to improve washing efficiency by preventing removed dirt particles from reattaching to fabric surfaces during the washing process.

In detergent systems, Celcol® dissolves readily in water and forms a protective layer on fabric fibers. This creates a negatively charged surface that repels soil particles and keeps them dispersed in the wash liquor. As a result, fabrics remain cleaner, brighter, and free from grey deposition even after repeated washing cycles.

About Celcol®

Celcol® is particularly effective for laundry powders and heavy-duty detergents, especially when washing cotton and cotton-blend fabrics. It enhances overall detergent performance by maintaining soil suspension and improving whiteness retention.

Celcol® Grades According to Degree of Substitution (DS)

Celcol® is a brand of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) manufactured by Soham. One of the most important parameters used to classify CMC grades is the Degree of Substitution (DS).

What is DS?

The Degree of Substitution (DS) indicates the average number of hydroxyl groups in the cellulose molecule replaced by carboxymethyl groups.
